Hitchcock on Editing and the Kuleshov Effect
Master filmmaker Alfred Hitchcock discusses film editing with Fletcher Markle in 1964, culminating in an excellent demonstration of the Kuleshov Effect - the power of editing, of the juxtaposition of images, to create meaning where no meaning was filmed.

Просмотров 15 тыс.3 года назад
British acting legend Oliver Reed in a playful interview with journalist Paul Heiney where he doles out polished pearls of screen acting wisdom. Love this clip, I use it in my screen acting classes all the time, it summarises a term's worth of lessons in five minutes.

READ BELOW FOR A QUICK SUMMERY!! Made for my BA and MA acting students at RCSSD, this video is a comprehensive lesson on getting best results from self-taping, or filming yourself at home, without professional lights or sound, using little more than your mobile phone. 1. You need a phone with video. 2. Take time to watch some RUclips tutorials to learn to use your own phone's video function/app...
The Showreel (short film)

Nasreen is a cleaner, with dreams of movie stardom. Lacking the contacts to realize her ambition, she creates extravagant characters to play - zombie hunters, punk clubbers, high-powered corporate financiers - and imagines film crews are on every street corner and real people are just extras, and that all of life is just a film set. So equipped, she heads off on an adventure, with the most extr...

When all the air on the planet dies at a stroke, this is how two unlikely heroes struggle to survive. My first short film, shot in March 2010 and finished in April 2011, and the steepest learning curve I'll ever have. Made for around £700, shot on a Sony EX3 with Letus Lens Adapter. Major thanks to everyone involved.

This is absolute gold. It never fails to raise a smile. The world is a duller place without Oliver Reed for sure. Where are these sorts of personalities now? But as this clip also shows, he was a brilliant actor who knew his profession well. Ollie, you are sorely missed. 🍺
Where indeed? I hope to bring a little of Ollie to the world. ;)
@@thomasj219 I wish you all the best in your quest. Raise a glass to the great man for me.
Hello, great work btw. can someone tell me the name of the soundtrack ? thanks in advance!! :)
I shared this on my fb page not long ago. I seriously thought this was Professionally done.
It's amazing how well he knew his own films. Everything was so carefully thought out.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
What a great master he was.

Loved it.
This is what the media has been doing since since infiltration.
It looked too British to be Pearl jam hehe
Donkey. We should never exhibit cruelty to any one, never mind the age or circumstances, children can be mean, growing up, but should grow out of it. I no longer have anything to do with my former school colleagues.
In high school (comprehensive) another pupil John was classed as a "Retarded", he never did or achieved anything at all in school, the only thing he could do was play Pool. He was referred to as mother-f*cker. 35 years later he lives in the house next door, married with children, they own two businesses, four brand new cars, five houses which are rented out, plenty foreign holidays. In school we considered him "thick" and never imagined a bright future, as a man he became a hard worker, worked hard, became a success story. He owns construction company and wife owns hairdressers. Life's funny ways twists and turns. John. I was the brainy one, top of my classes, off to a good Uni. Nowadays John is demonstrably much more "successful" and accomplished than me. What a very very curious turn of events, you never would have predicted. David
I absolutely love this song!! I had a couple of friends like that coming in and out of my life for years. I truly didn't think they cared or loved me but I was wrong, they loved me that's just the way they were. Thank You for sharing this awesome video 😊💓🤘✌️
What a fantastic actor! He was a tortured soul. I wish there was more footage of him regarding the craft of acting. The pause in speech can applied to our daily lives especially for Americans! we talk fast with no pausing! RIP Oliver!
It took 9 years for me to spot this. What a magnificent film! Masterfully acted, an intelligent, hearty script. Human nature at its best

i am proud of you
what's it about
I really want the HD version of this video
wow, now this is great learning from a legend
Bravo! Exceptionally well done. If you will accept one small bit of advice--in both this film and "Donkey", there were at least one or two moments when the volume of the background music rose to a level where the speaker's (actor's) words were lost. Still, great work!
He gives instructions on how to be the heavy and then ends the scene providing an exact example. Note that he delivered the last line in the exact manner as he previously described.
favorite vampire rock group of all time ! love you guys all the way from Chicago IL ❤ 💙 ♥ To clear up any confusion they don't age !
Really good ! Well done!
absolutely not
What I Love about Films in general is exactly what we are seeing here in the comment stream, everyone has a differing view and experience of it. Thats how it should be. Not everyone will like a particular film, but it may have great appeal to others. Again that's how it should be. We as filmmakers should cast a wide net when it comes to producing and directing films from a variety of films subjects. There is always a constant struggle with commerce versus art and most filmmakers are in it to make a good film and not worried about the commercial appeal or success. I think if you love, hate or are indifferent about this film, one things for sure....it is well made, acted, shot, edited and produced and you can see the effort made by the Director. It is a very well made film. I love a bold film maker. I look forward to seeing what else Kier comes up with. I do love this film! Jx
Even as an acting teacher, Oliver Reed was convincing. That journalist probably thought Reed was being serious. I've read that Reed was good as gold after this though and gave the journalist a tour of the house. A proper genius Oliver Reed was. RIP, Oliver. Your films will stand the test of time.
Damn right. He was such a genius, and the only thing he was serious about here were his acting notes. They were spot on
@@thomasj219, damn right. This was a man who had no acting training, just his way of learning through the public and a natural ability.
Obviously scrited of course. So nothing learned. Nothing at all. Just more bullshit. But bullshit is really something to learn. Of course you do not need to be an asshole to teach it .
was this video set in kidlington (manchester)?

So...he had his own camera man filming. I think Oliver was a fine actor and an ass. Sorry I know ill get feedback just like Ollie I don't care.
Nah he was known as an obnoxious drunk but damn; he can act 💯
I beg your pardon..😂😂😂
Unlike Ollie. You just don’t get it.
This is just straight weird.... shit interpretation
This short & this s0ng go perfectly together. 3 human stories.....all "Optimistic"......
Personality, charisma and charm go a long, long way ... Damn, how I wish Oliver Reed was still here. There hasn't been anyone that has ever come close to this enigmatic gentleman!
